National Postdoc Appreciation Day
Announcing the First Annual National Postdoc Appreciation Day
September 24, 2009, 4:00 PM
E-Floor Exhibit Hall, Nutrition Center
Please join us for refreshments to celebrate the significant contribution that postdoctoral scholars make to the Wake Forest University scientific research enterprise. Special guests include Dr. Jed Macosko, WFU Dept. of Physics and Dr. Vicki Del Gaizo Moore, former WFU postdoc currently at Clean Earth Technologies who will talk about the role of their postdoctoral experience in their career path. The event will be followed by a networking event at First Street.
Attendees will be eligible for a drawing for door prizes.
As we approach Postdoc Appreciation Day, here are some concrete ideas for showing your postdoctoral colleague your appreciation for a job well done:
- Take your postdoctoral trainee to lunch.
- Discuss an Individual Development Plan and help your trainee complete an IDP (the WFU postdoc IDP is posted on the OPA website at
http://graduate.wfu.edu/PostDoc/documents/IDP%20WFU.pdf). - Identify special opportunities for training and personal development, such as a special course, a grant opportunity, or training outside the laboratory.
- Join the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs LinkedIn Group at: http://www.linkedin.com/groupInvitation?groupID=2262228&sharedKey=1DDEED192A92
