Admissions - Application Fee Waivers
Waivers Based on Program Participation:
If you have participated in one of the programs below within the last two years, you are eligible for an application fee waiver.
- AmeriCorps
- Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minorities Students (ABRCMS)
- Bill and Melinda Gates Millennium Scholar
- Careers Opportunity Research/NIMH (COR/NIHM)
- Currently serving in the U.S. Military
- Institute for Recruitment of Teachers (IRT)
- Leadership Alliance Summer Research Early Identification Program
- Ronald McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program
- Mellon Minority Undergraduate Fellows Program
- Minority Access Research Careers (MARC)

Contact your program director/coordinator to request a letter verifying your participation in the program and the dates of your participation. The letter should arrive in our office in a sealed envelope and initialed on the back flap by the authorizing official.
Waivers Based on Financial Need:
We also offer waivers to applicants currently enrolled in a degree program if they are able to demonstrate financial need (recipient of Federal Pell Grants, NC Education Lottery Scholarship, or Subsidized Stafford Loan). You may contact your financial aid officer or the university registrar to request a letter verifying your financial need. The letter should arrive in our office in a sealed institutional envelope and initialed on the back flap by the authorizing official.
International Applicants:
International applicants are not eligible for application fee waivers.
