New Student Orientation

Welcome
The Graduate School is extremely pleased to be able to welcome you to Winston-Salem, N.C. and Wake Forest University. The staff and faculty on the Bowman Gray campus hope that your educational experience is not only challenging, but rewarding as well. Wake Forest University is characterized by its devotion to liberal learning and professional preparation for men and women, its strong sense of community and fellowship, and its encouragement of free inquiry and expression. The information provided on this site is to help you with the relocation process and to help prepare you for an easy transition. Please do not hesitate to contact the Graduate School or your program of study if you have any questions.

Orientation
Orientation for new students will begin on Tuesday, August 4th.  Please refer to the academic calendar for other important dates.  A packet containing the course schedule, registration form, and other pertinent materials will be available at orientation (click here for a copy of the orientation agenda).

Please Note — “New Student Orientation” is mandatory for all students. If you have a situation which will not allow you to attend all phases, you MUST contact Ms. Susan Pierce, Registrar, at 1-800-GET-GRAD, 336-716-4303, or by email to spierce@wfubmc.edu to discuss the particulars of your situation Please DO NOT contact the program office.

Graduate Student Associations

The GSA has also put together a handbook (GSA Survive and Thrive Guide) of useful information for both new and current students. Please feel free to review the information contained in the guide and contact your program representatives or the Graduate School with any questions.

Housing
Rooms, apartments, and houses are available in the neighborhood of the Medical Center. The Graduate School maintains an on-line housing list which you may access by navigating to http://graduate.wfu.edu/admissions/housing.html.

Your name has also been placed on an eligibility list for low cost housing owned by the medical center. The Medical School Foundation Housing apartments are located across the street from the medical center and rent for $260/month. The Balcony Court Apartments are within easy walking distance to the center and offers 1 ($315/mo), 2 ($365/mo), and 3 ($415/mo) bedroom apartments.
