Committee Descriptions

arrow Communications
     • Support other committees, BGSA as a whole, and other professional schools in terms of promotions
        and other necessary communications efforts
     • Develop additional ways to distribute information to BGSA members and campus community
        Design, develop, and supervise BGSA web site

arrow Community Service
     • Work on activities to keep the BGSA visible on campus and in community
     • Work with local churches and other organizations to develop community service programs

arrow Finance
     • Responsible for all fundraisers
     • Manage the development of a BGSA T-shirt
     • Work to solicit money from organizations on campus and in community

arrow Graduate & Professional School Forum
     • Solicit guest speakers and/or panelists for workshops
     • Work with Office of Multicultural Affairs, Graduate School, and Maya Angelou Center in
        coordinating the forum

arrow Recruitment and Retention
     • Develop strategies to recruit minorities and to retain minority PhD and/or Masters candidates
     • Work with Graduate School in coordinating BGSA involvement in recruitment and retention activities

arrow Social Activities
     • Plan monthly activities for BGSA members
     • Coordinate social activities with other Black graduate and professional student organizations
