Wake Forest University Named Affiliate Partner by Council of Graduate Schools
News Release Date: 1.30.09

Winston-Salem, N.C. – Wake Forest University has been named an affiliate partner by the Council of Graduate Schools (CGS) to help build programs that foster the responsible conduct of research among graduate students.

The CGS Project for Scholarly Integrity seeks to better inform students, researchers and faculty about the ethical responsibilities and complexities of research in the 21st century.  The schools involved in this project will develop models for integrating research and scholarly integrity into the graduate school experience.

Topics addressed will include conflicts of interest, plagiarism, human subject research and laboratory management.

“Developing and implementing these educational initiatives is critical to facilitating the ethical and moral reasoning skills of members of the academic community as they engage in their current responsibilities and prepare themselves for their future professions,” said Randall Rogan, associate dean of Wake Forest’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.

“This partnership will give us an opportunity to take part in what is going on at the national level and to be well informed about what other universities are doing and how they are doing it,” Rogan said.
