PhD Programs & Tracks

The Biology Department offers graduate programs leading to the MS and PhD degrees. We have 22 graduate faculty that represent the breadth of the biological sciences.

The Department of Chemistry offers graduate programs of study leading to the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in the fields of analytical, biological, inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry.

The Physics doctoral program offers a comprehensive course of study in classical and modern physics, with intensive training in one of the frontier areas of modern research.

The BME Department is a participant in the Virginia Tech – Wake Forest University School of Biomedical Engineering and Sciences (SBES). PhD and MS degree programs in Biomedical Engineering are offered exclusively via the SBES and degrees are awarded jointly by Virginia Tech and Wake Forest University.

The Integrative Physiology & Pharmacology (IPP) Program at Wake Forest University comprises more than 80 participating faculty members across 18 departments and programs who share a common perspective of pharmacology as an integrative discipline within the organism.

Molecular and Cellular Biosciences (MCB) is an interdisciplinary graduate program that provides students with opportunities to choose from a range of mentors whose research spans basic and translational fields of cutting-edge molecular and cellular biology.

The Neuroscience Program track constitutes a graduate program that includes more than 90 participating faculty members across 16 departments who study how the nervous system works, how it develops, and how it can be affected by disease and damage.
